Honouring Excellence: Harsh Sinha Receives the B. N. Das Memorial Award

Updated: Mar 18

We are pleased to recall that an award was previously announced in honor of Mr. B. N. Das for excellence. Contributions were invited for the same, and a selection committee was formed to identify the most deserving recipient.

The committee, comprising Mr. Arun K. Eshwara, Cmdr. Bahl, and Mr. Prateek, has unanimously recommended Mr. Harsh Sinha for this prestigious award.

Mr. Sinha's unwavering commitment to excellence, mentorship, and community building makes him an ideal recipient. This award recognizes not only academic achievements but also contributions to the broader DMET community. Unlike many of his peers who have followed traditional career paths, Mr. Sinha has dedicated himself to service and selfless contributions. Through his work with DMET Samvaad, he has played a crucial role in fostering stronger connections within the DMET fraternity, bridging gaps between alumni, cadets, and faculty. His efforts in facilitating discussions, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing have significantly strengthened the institution’s community spirit, much like the late Mr. B. N. Das did during his tenure.

Beyond his community contributions, Mr. Sinha has demonstrated a strong commitment to maritime research, enhancing knowledge-sharing and innovation in the maritime sector. His research efforts not only benefit the maritime industry but also position DMET at the forefront of academic and industry advancements. Additionally, he dedicates substantial time to mentoring cadets, guiding them through their academic and professional journeys. His passion for maritime education and leadership in advancing DMET’s legacy align seamlessly with the values championed by Mr. B. N. Das. His dedication to nurturing the next generation of maritime professionals and fostering the growth of the DMET community makes him a truly deserving candidate for this honor.

Mr. Harsh Sinha epitomizes the very essence of excellence, service, and leadership that the B. N. Das Memorial Award for Overall Excellence seeks to recognize.

DMECA is proud to present this award, along with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, as a token of appreciation for his remarkable contributions.
