The alumni of the Marine Engineering and Research Institute (formerly known as the Directorate of Marine Engineering and Training) are embarking on a literary voyage like no other. The DMET-MERI Josh Writers initiative is a vibrant celebration of shared experiences, weaving together the voices of its alumni into a compelling anthology of short stories.


These narratives will reflect the unique lives led by marine engineers at sea and in ports worldwide, offering a glimpse into their journeys, challenges, and triumphs.

Like the spark that ignites an engine, this initiative aims to fuel creativity and camaraderie among DMET-MERI alumni. Whether through non-fiction accounts or fiction inspired by real events, these stories will form a tapestry of maritime adventures, capturing the essence of the marine world and the indomitable spirit of those who navigate it.

  • 30th January 2025: Deadline for story submissions.

  • 31st January 2025: Publishing cycle commences.

  • 3rd February 2025: Compilation of stories for the anthology begins.

  • 5th February 2025: Editing process kicks off, ensuring every story shines.

  • 17th February 2025: Design phase begins, focusing on aesthetic appeal and readability.

  • 24th February 2025: Final design approval from all authors.

  • 26th February 2025: Conversion of the anthology into eBook and print-ready formats.

  • 3rd March 2025: Listing on global marketplaces.

  • 4th March 2025: Worldwide release of the anthology.

  • 6th March 2025 onwards: Order fulfillment begins, making the anthology accessible to readers across the globe.
