My UMMS Visit Update: July 24, 2024
The shipping industry has long been considered slow to adopt new technologies and transformative changes compared to land-based industries. While some in the maritime sector may disagree, this observation is based on my 17 years of experience and interactions with thousands of maritime professionals and companies.
Over the past few years, I've been closely interacting with the UMMS team, primarily because many of them share the same alma mater as I do, including Vinay Sir, Harish Sir, Rishi Sir, Bhagwan Sir, and many more (I'll update the list once I confirm all the DMET alumni, ha ha ha).
And I know there are a lot of people behind this amazing organisation who are not DMET alumni, but I guess now they can all be called DMETians for sure, thanks to Vinay Sir, and you would feel it in the vibe of the office.
What excites me about UMMS is their willingness to challenge the preconceived notions of the shipping industry. They're not just breaking the glass ceiling; they're shattering it entirely.
Newcomers to UMMS might initially perceive a sense of chaos, but the team, led by stellar leadership, is highly driven. Despite being a relatively young company, they envision becoming the best and most innovative shipping company in the industry.
It's inspiring to see a DMETian-run ship management company making such a significant impact. They understand the crucial roles that technology, happiness, and human-centric approaches will play in this transformation.
I'm not Nostradamus, but I can clearly see UMMS challenging the top companies in the world. They are fair, prioritize the happiness of their employees and partners, and care deeply about all their stakeholders.
Their commitment to leveraging technology in transforming ship management sets them apart. I continue to learn so much from Vinay Sir and Harish Sir, and I look forward to keeping the community informed as UMMS makes strides at light speed.
In case you're curious about the logo, it's UMMS if you look closely (Don't worry, I am not that smart, Vinay Sir Explained it to me). The blue and green colours symbolise the ocean and the environment, reflecting the company's commitment to these elements.
Additionally, I encourage all DMETians to visit the UMMS office and experience the magic firsthand. If you're in the area, you can find them on the 6th floor of Conscient One Mall in Sector 109, Gurgaon.
