Sunday Citadel with Sub Lieutenant Satya Parakram Satpathy | From DMET to the Indian Navy | 21st June 2026

For many marine engineering students, the Merchant Navy is the most familiar career path. However, there is another prestigious opportunity that allows young mariners to combine technical excellence with national service, the Indian Navy.

This Sunday, DMET Club is proud to host Sub Lieutenant Satya Parakram Satpathy, a proud DMETian who recently completed his training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and was commissioned as an officer in the Indian Navy.

His journey from a marine engineering classroom to the officer ranks of the Indian Navy offers valuable lessons for every young mariner who dreams of serving the nation while building a rewarding technical career.

Why Is His Story Special?

After completing Marine Engineering at DMET, Satya Parakram chose a path that few marine engineers take. Instead of joining a merchant vessel, he decided to serve the nation by joining the Indian Navy.

His journey involved clearing the highly competitive Services Selection Board (SSB), passing rigorous medical examinations, and undergoing intensive officer training at the Indian Naval Academy, one of the most prestigious military training institutions in Asia.

Today, he proudly wears the uniform of the Indian Navy as a commissioned officer.

His story proves that a DMETian's capabilities go far beyond ships and engine rooms. With determination and hard work, DMET graduates can excel in any field they choose.
