“Sandese aate hain… humein tadpate hain…”
There is something about these words…They don’t just belong to a song. They belong to a feeling.
A feeling of distance.A feeling of duty.A feeling of being far away… yet deeply connected.
Most of us remember this emotion from the iconic song of Border — where soldiers stand at the nation’s borders, protecting us while silently carrying the weight of missing home.
But today…I want to say this from my heart —
There is another border.
Not of land…But of oceans.
And on that border…stand our seafarers.
The Unsung Soldiers of the Sea
While soldiers guard the nation’s borders…you guard its lifelines.
You ensure fuel reaches our cities. Food reaches our homes. Trade keeps moving. The nation keeps breathing.
You don’t wear uniforms that the world recognises.
You don’t march in parades.
But make no mistake —you are serving the nation.
“Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge…” — The Question That Never Leaves
“Jo chitthi aati hai… wo poochhe jaati hai…”“Ki ghar kab aaoge…”
This question…does not just live in letters anymore.
It lives in WhatsApp messages. In missed calls. In silent prayers.
Your families wait. Not just for your return…but for your presence.
Because…
“Tum bin ye ghar soona soona hai…”
And yet…you continue.
Holi Without Colors, Yet Full of Meaning
Back home, today is Holi.
Colors fill the air.
Laughter fills the streets.
Families come together.
But for you…
There are no colors. Only the blue of the ocean.
The orange of sunsets. And the quiet strength in your heart.
And maybe…a small celebration with your crew.
A smile.
A shared meal.
A moment of silence.
This Too Is Nation Building
We often speak of nation building in terms of borders, policies, and infrastructure.
But today, let’s acknowledge a deeper truth:
This too is nation building.
Every mile you sail…
Every storm you endure…
Every festival you miss…
You are contributing to something far bigger than yourself.
You are holding the world together.
From My Heart — To Every Seafarer
As someone who comes from this community…who understands this life, not from distance, but from within…
I want to say this today:
You are not forgotten.
You are not invisible.
You are respected.
You are valued.
You are deeply needed.
And everything we are building —through communities, platforms, and initiatives —is to ensure that your sacrifices are seen, heard, and honored.
A Holi Wish That Goes Beyond Colors 🎨🌍
This Holi…I don’t just wish you happiness.
I wish you:
Safe voyages.Calm seas.Strong minds. And a heart that never feels alone.
And one day soon…
When someone asks again —“Ki ghar kab aaoge…”
I hope your answer is —“Bas… is baar jaldi.”
Happy Holi to every seafarer across the globe.
You may be far from home…but you are always close to our hearts.
With respect, pride, and brotherhood,
Prateek Khanna ⚓
