Standing Strong for Ranjit: A Message from DMECA & DMET Club

Dear All,

As our fellow Dmetian Ranjit continues to fight for his life in the hospital, there is a positive trend in his recovery. Let’s all keep him in our prayers. As of yesterday, we have raised over INR 33 lakh (our target was 25 lakh), with additional support from the Hong Kong & Singapore Associations joining the mission to support Ranjit.

At this moment, we at Dmet Club & DMECA humbly request that contributions be stopped. As a community, we have set a strong example of standing up for our brothers, and this bond only grows stronger, no matter when we graduated.

We promise to continue supporting our alma mater and alumni, and to keep fighting for our own in the future as well.

Best regards, Team DMECA & DMET Club

Dear Dmetians,

We, at DMET Club, are reaching out today with an urgent and heartfelt appeal on behalf of one of our own. Dmetian Ranjit Kumar (Roll Number 5311), a cherished member of the 1999-2003 batch, is in critical condition and desperately needs our support.

Ranjit’s story is one of remarkable resilience and courage. During his years at DMET, when most of us were focused on our studies and futures, Ranjit was already in the fight of his life. He underwent a kidney transplant while still a student—a challenge that would have broken many, but not Ranjit.

He continued his journey with the same determination that defines our community. Today, however, Ranjit is facing an even greater challenge.

He is currently on a ventilator in Bengaluru, battling a severe 'Black Fungi' infection. His condition is exacerbated by his previous medical history, making this an incredibly tough fight.

Standing by Ranjit’s side are his devoted wife, Mrs. Asha, and their 2.5-year-old son. They remain at his bedside, holding onto hope, but the road ahead is fraught with challenges—both emotional and financial. The cost of Ranjit’s ongoing treatment is estimated at Rs 25 lakhs, a sum that his family cannot shoulder alone. This is where our community, the DMET alumni, must rise to the occasion.

We all know that being part of the DMET family means more than just having shared a campus or a set of lectures. It means being part of a legacy, a brotherhood that transcends time and distance.

Throughout our lives, we’ve seen how this community stands strong in the face of adversity. Whether it’s navigating the turbulent waters of our professional lives or supporting each other through personal trials, the strength of the DMET community lies in our unwavering solidarity.

When one of our own is in need, it is our duty—our privilege—to step forward. Ranjit is not just a fellow alumnus; he is a brother who has walked the same halls, faced the same challenges, and shared the same dreams. His fight is our fight.

We must remember that this could happen to any one of us. In moments like these, it’s not just about financial support; it’s about standing together as a community and showing that no member of the DMET family is ever alone. Ranjit’s resilience has inspired us all, and now it’s our turn to rally behind him and his family with the full force of our collective strength.

We are calling on all alumni to contribute whatever they can. Every donation, no matter the size, is a lifeline for Ranjit and his family. The funds we raise will be managed through DMECA, ensuring they reach Ranjit quickly and securely.

At the hospital, Ranjit showed improvement, staying off the ventilator throughout the day, and following the doctor's advice, he will now only need the ventilator at night. His progress is encouraging!

Update 3: August 30, 2024

We have received transfer updates amounting to ₹22.02 lakh as of the end of day on 30th August 2024.

The overwhelming support from across the globe and from alumni spanning over 50 years has been heartwarming. One contribution, in particular, deserves special recognition:

A dedicated 75-year-old DMETian from Mangalore, who retired a decade ago, exemplified the true DMET spirit. Despite the challenges, he physically visited his bank, submitted a contribution cheque, and filled out the NEFT form to ensure the funds were transferred to support Ranjit. A true testament to the unwavering DMET camaraderie!

We urge everyone to continue contributing to support Ranjit's ongoing treatment.

On a positive note, we are excited to share that the doctors at the hospital are now considering moving Ranjit from the ICU to a regular ward, thanks to the progress seen. 🙌
