Honouring a life of courage, remembering a dear batchmate, and standing together for his family.
The DMET/MERI community is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Mr. Ranjit Kumar (5311), a respected member of the Batch of 1999–2003, who passed away on 30 September 2026 in Bengaluru after a courageous battle.
His passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, batchmates, and the wider maritime fraternity. At this difficult time, the DMET/MERI community extends its heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Asha, and their five-year-old son, Hrithik. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
A Journey Marked by Courage and Resilience
Mr. Ranjit Kumar’s journey was a testament to strength, determination, and the human spirit. Two years ago, when he was battling mucormycosis, members of the DMET community came together to support him through an exceptionally challenging period.
His courage and determination to fight back left a lasting impression on those who stood beside him. His journey reaffirmed the enduring bonds of friendship and solidarity that connect members of the DMET/MERI family, extending far beyond our years at the institution.
While his passing leaves behind a deep sense of grief, his courage will continue to be remembered with respect and affection.
Standing Together for His Family
