The DMET–MERI Alumni (Singapore) successfully hosted its Annual Technical Meet 2026 on Friday, 22 May 2026, at M-Hotel Singapore. The event brought together maritime professionals, alumni, and industry leaders for an evening of knowledge sharing, professional dialogue, and camaraderie.
The meet was supported by DNV, underscoring continued industry collaboration in advancing maritime knowledge and innovation.

This year’s theme, “Beyond the Horizon – Our Seafarers,” resonated strongly with the maritime community. It reflected both the evolving challenges facing the industry—considering geopolitical developments—and the enduring contribution by seafarers, whose role remains more critical than ever.
Distinguished Participation and Industry Representation
The event witnessed an impressive gathering of approximately 150 maritime professionals, primarily alumni based in Singapore, along with distinguished representatives from key maritime institutions. These included the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Classification Societies, flag administrations, and professional organisations such as the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), IMEI (Singapore Branch), IMarEST, IMEI and SNAME.

In a meaningful initiative to nurture future maritime talent, the Technical Meet welcomed two cadets from the Indian Maritime University (Kolkata Campus), as well as six local students from Singapore’s NTU & SMA. Their presence symbolised a strong bridge between experienced professionals and the next generation of maritime leaders.
