A Brotherhood That Stands the Test of Time: United Support for Late Vishwadeepak Kumar’s Family

In life’s most trying moments, communities often find their truest purpose—not in the accolades they gather, but in the compassion they show. The DMET alumni community recently demonstrated this purpose in the most heartfelt way.

Gone Too Soon: Remembering Vishwadeepak Kumar

We recently lost Vishwadeepak Kumar (Roll No. 7156, Batch of 2011–2015)—a bright, dedicated marine engineer whose life was cut short far too early. His passing left his young wife alone to face an uncertain future. The grief was immense, but the DMET fraternity responded with unmatched solidarity.

Over ₹8.5 Lakh Raised — A Testament to Brotherhood

  • Vishwadeepak’s batchmates rallied together, raising over ₹6 lakh within days of the news.

  • An open appeal to the wider alumni network saw over 75 DMETians contribute more than ₹2.58 lakh, pouring in not just money but love, prayers, and strength.

This wasn’t just fundraising. This was a statement—that no DMETian stands alone, not in life, and certainly not in loss. Special mention to his batchmates Ranjan, Aditya, Homeshwar, Suresh, and Anurag, who have been consistently supportive, along with the entire batch who have shown remarkable solidarity during this difficult time

From Tragedy to Hope: A Job, A New Beginning

Real support goes beyond the moment—it builds bridges toward a better future.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Prateek Khanna, Founder of DMET Club, DMECA Executive Committee Member, and Director (Strategy & Planning) at Yugen Infra, a new chapter has been made possible.

Mr. Sheeshram Yadav, Founder & Managing Director of Yugen Infra, stepped forward with remarkable generosity. In an act that truly defines the DMET spirit, he has offered employment to Vishwadeepak’s widow, helping her reclaim dignity, financial independence, and hope.

This act of solidarity from Yugen Infra is not just corporate responsibility—it is family standing for family. To the entire Yugen family, our heartfelt thanks.

The DMET Spirit: More Than a Network, It’s a Lifeline

This episode reminds us all that DMET is more than an institution—it’s a bond. A brotherhood and sisterhood that transcends time, geography, and tragedy. Whether onboard or ashore, whether in uniform or retired, we remain tied to each other by values forged during our days of cadetship—duty, honour, and care.

In Closing: Thank You

To each of the 75+ alumni who gave so selflessly,To the batchmates who led the charge without hesitation,To the mentors who continue to guide,And to those who step up quietly behind the scenes—thank you.

You’ve shown that the DMET community is not just thriving; it’s unbreakable.

With gratitude and hope, Mudit Mehrotra Secretary, DMECA (DMET-MERI Ex-Cadets Association)
